Building Pathways to Opportunities
Ciconia is a nonprofit organization in Spain creating education-to-employment pathways for displaced people to develop skills, access career opportunities, and build sustainable futures.
A Nonprofit Organization in Spain Built Around Opportunity
Every journey begins with potential.
Around the world, millions of displaced people carry with them talent, resilience, and ambition, yet too often they face barriers to education, employment, and meaningful opportunities. At Ciconia, we believe that displacement should never define a person’s future.
Inspired by the white stork “Ciconia“,a nonprofit organization in Spain is a symbol of migration, resilience, and hope, we created pathways that help displaced individuals rebuild their lives with confidence. Through practical learning, mentorship, language development, wellbeing support, and community integration, we equip participants with the skills, networks, and opportunities they need to thrive in Spain.
Ciconia is more than a program. It is a growing ecosystem that brings together universities, employers, mentors, public institutions, and community partners to create pathways to meaningful careers and long-term inclusion.
Every participant brings unique experiences, valuable skills, and untapped potential. Our role is to create the conditions, connections, and opportunities that empower them to shape their own future while contributing their talents, ideas, and experiences to the future of Spain.
When talent meets opportunity, individuals thrive, communities grow stronger, and societies become more inclusive. We believe integration is a two-way journey, one in which displaced people build new futures while contributing their skills, experiences, and ideas to the communities they call home. This is the future Ciconia is building: a Spain where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and belong.

Our Approach
We believe lasting change begins with people. When education meets opportunity and community, potential becomes possibility, possibility becomes participation, and individuals and societies thrive together.
At Ciconia, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every individual brings unique experiences, strengths, aspirations, and challenges. That’s why we have developed a holistic, participant-centered approach that combines practical learning, meaningful relationships, and real opportunities to create sustainable pathways for personal and professional growth.
Rather than addressing a single need, we focus on the whole journey, supporting individuals as they learn, connect, contribute, and build a future with confidence.
Equal Opportunities
We work to remove barriers so that talent, not circumstance, can shape a person’s future.
Belonging & Inclusion
We believe integration is a two-way journey, where people build new lives while enriching the communities they join.
Dignity & Agency
We see every person as a source of talent, experience, and potential. Not as a beneficiary.
Collective Impact
We bring people, institutions, employers, and communities together to create lasting opportunities, so individuals can thrive, organizations can benefit from diverse talent, and communities can grow stronger together.
The Story Behind Our Name
The white stork (Ciconia) has long symbolized migration, resilience, hope, and new beginnings. For centuries, it migrated between the Levant and Europe, crossing thousands of kilometers each year in search of favorable conditions. In recent decades, changing environmental conditions and new opportunities have led many storks to establish permanent homes in parts of Europe, including Spain.
Like the white stork, Ciconia, a nonprofit organization in Spain believes that migration is not only about leaving a place behind, it is about finding safety, embracing new opportunities, and building a future where individuals can thrive. Our name reflects this journey of resilience, adaptation, and belonging.
Every Journey Begins With a Single Step
The white stork travels thousands of kilometers each year, adapting to new environments while never losing sight of its destination.
